1. What is Air China’s self-service baggage check-in service?

A: Our self-service baggage check-in service enables passengers who have purchased electronic tickets to check in their baggage on their own through our self-service baggage check-in facilities prior to departure.  

2. What are the advantages of the self-service baggage check-in service?

A: It is a new way for passengers to check in baggage quickly with greatly reduced waiting times.

3. Who can use the self-service baggage check-in service?

A: (a) Passengers who have purchased electronic tickets for non-stop China domestic flights operated by Air China (excluding routes involving Tibet and the domestic segments of international routes).
(b) Currently, it is not available for infants, children, sick passengers, disabled passengers, and passengers who require special assistance due to age or physical condition, and who must meet certain conditions in order to board flights.

4. When and where can I use the self-service baggage check-in service?

A: From four hours prior to scheduled departure time to 30 minutes before departure in Terminal T3 of the Beijing Capital International Airport; from three hours prior to scheduled departure time to 40 minutes before departure at the Hohhot Airport.

5. What are the procedures for self-service baggage check-in service?

A: After arriving at the airport, passengers can obtain boarding passes and print baggage ID tags by following the instructions at the self-service baggage check-in kiosks using second generation ID cards, passports, electronic ticket numbers and other valid documents. Then passengers attach the ID tags to their baggage and proceed to the designated counter to check in baggage and get baggage claim tags.

6. If I have already completed the self-service baggage check-in procedure at the airport and I want to make changes to my flight, what should I do?

A: Air China provides flight change and endorsement services to passengers according to the electronic ticket record and flight record displayed in the departure and booking system. If passengers who have already completed baggage self-service check-in require flight change and endorsement services, they should contact the duty manager’s counter as soon as possible. Passengers must provide their boarding passes and baggage claim tags to Air China staff who will help find the checked baggage in order to complete flight change and endorsement services.

7. Are there any size and weight limitations for self-service checked baggage?

A: Each piece of luggage should weigh between 2 kg and 45 kg. The total linear dimensions of each piece should be between 60 cm and 203 cm. Passengers whose luggage exceeds the maximum dimension and weight allowances must check their excess baggage as cargo. For more information, please visit Air China’s website.
