Prepaid Excess Baggage





I. Sales channels

You can pay in advance for your excess baggage through worldwide offices of Air China, Air China mobile app, Air China hotline: 95583,Official Website of Air China,North America Call Centre hotline: +1-800-882-8122, PhoenixMiles hotline: 4006100666.


II. Applicability


1. Applicable tickets:

The service is applicable to international tickets whose number starts with “999” (including BSP ticket confirmed by “999”)


2. Eligible flights:

Air China-operated, CA-coded, non-stop international flights (codeshare flights are excluded). Connecting flights may only be booked through the Air China hotline (95583), PhoenixMiles hotline (4006100666) and Air China ticketing offices; interline flights cannot be booked in advance. For connecting flights, passengers must book or cancel their prepaid excess baggage allowance for the entire itinerary. It is not possible to book or cancel allowances for individual flight segments. For example, passenger with a connecting flight from Chengdu to Vancouver via Beijing (with a stopover of less than 24 hours) must select the entire itinerary when booking prepaid excess baggage allowance; it is not possible to book allowances for the Chengdu - Beijing or Beijing Vancouver segments separately. For cancellations, allowances for the entire itinerary must be cancelled together; it is not possible to cancel the allowance for the Chengdu - Beijing or Beijing - Vancouver segments separately.


3. Applicable classes of service:

The service is applicable to all classes of service.


4. Time limit:

Advance payment for excess baggage has to be made at least 6 hours before flight departure. No advance payment is accepted within 6 hours before flight departure.


5. Qualifying passengers:

Individual passengers qualify for the service. Infants and group passengers do not.


6. Restrictions on the dimensions and weight of the prepaid baggage:

From January 1, 2019, the prepaid baggage must meet the following specifications:

The sum of the length, width and height of each piece of extra checked baggage shall be greater than or equal to 60CM and less than or equal to 158CM; the weight of each piece of baggage in First Class and Business Class shall be greater than or equal to 2KG and less than or equal to 32KG. The weight of each piece of baggage in Comfort Class, Super Economy Class and Economy Class must be greater than or equal to 2KG and less than or equal to 23KG.

Extra baggage that does not meet the above specifications cannot be properly collected. You are requested to pay the fee according to the airport's excess baggage charge standards. For oversize or overweight baggage, extra fees will be calculated and charged.

The sum of the length, width and height of each piece of prepaid baggage shall not exceed 203CM, and the weight of each piece of prepaid baggage shall not exceed 32KG.


7. Maximum number of pieces:

The maximum prepaid excess baggage allowance is two pieces of baggage per passenger per flight.


III. Important

1. In the process of check-in at the point of departure, please tell staff that you have purchased prepaid baggage and whether or not you will validate your purchase.

2. If the prepaid baggage which you have paid for in advance exceeds the prescribed limits, your prepaid baggage will not be accepted for carriage and instead will be charged based on the applicable airport on-site excess baggage fee collection standards, and the prepaid baggage fee already paid in advance can be refunded through the original channel of purchase.

3. Current compensation standards on the loss of or damage to the checked baggage apply. Valuables must be declared at the time of check-in.


IV. Refund, rebooking and endorsement related to prepaid baggage service

1. After you have made payment for your prepaid baggage, the service can still be canceled if not used. Any request for cancellation must be made through the original channel of purchase. Refund will be made in full at a time. It will take us some time to process your request for cancellation.

2. Refund on the prepaid baggage fee already paid in advance will be made in full at a time. For example, for one piece of prepaid baggage paid for in advance at a time at a ticketing office, refund will be made in full at the time of cancellation of the service; refund cannot be made in part based on the weight of the prepaid baggage.

3. If there are any changes to your ticket or your travel plan after you have paid for your prepaid baggage, you are requested to contact the original channel of purchase about the change to your prepaid baggage.

4. The service is non-endorsable. If you are endorsed onto the flight of another carrier voluntarily or involuntarily, the service you have purchased becomes irrelevant.


VI. Issuance of invoice
