General Provisions on Checked Baggage
"Baggage" refers to the obligatory or appropriate number of items the passenger brings to wear, use, for comfort or for convenience as well as other personal belongings.
"Checked Baggage" refers to the items the passenger hands over to the airline to look after and transport, and that is marked as baggage.
Domestic transport refers to transport contracts in which the point of origin, point of transfer and destination are within the People's Republic of China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau SAR as well as Taiwan).
International transport refers, except where otherwise provided for in the convention, to transport contracts in which either the point of origin or the destination are outside the People's Republic of China, regardless of any stops or transfers.
II. Maximum weight, dimensions and number of pieces of checked baggage
Standard baggage: Each piece of baggage whose total dimensions (length + width + height), should not exceed 158 cm (62 in, including wheels and handles) and should not be less than 60 cm (24 in).
Each piece of baggage whose total dimensions (length + width + height), should not exceed 203 cm (80 in, including wheels and handles) and should be more than 158 cm (62 in), excess baggage fees must be paid.
Luxury First Class, First Class, Business Class: each piece must not weigh more than 32 kg (70 lb) or less than 2 kg (4 lb).
Premium Economy Class, Super Economy Class, Economy Class: each piece must not weigh more than 23 kg (50 lb) or less than 2 kg (4 lb).
Each piece of baggage with weight of more than 23 kg (50 lb), yet no more than 32 kg (70 lb) is subject to an extra fee.
Any piece of standard baggage that weighs more than 32 kg (70 lb) must be repacked and checked in as two pieces.
3. Number of pieces:
No limitation on baggage quantities (including standard and special baggage)
Passenger needs to apply to the ticket office (airports) for transporting the seventh and more additional pieces which exceed the limits of the free checked baggage allowance and the Phoenix Miles allowance. Please note that extra baggage is accepted only if space is available on the aircraft. Meanwhile Air China does not promise to transport all checked baggage on the same flight as the traveler.
