Air China “Lucky Cabin” Activity
to serve the Olympics
"Greet the Olympics with Happiness, Welcome guests across the world with a smile"
As the official airline partner of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Air China operated flight CA1321 from Beijing to Guangzhou with its Olympic Mascot aircraft on the 8th of Aug. This brand new “Lucky Cabin” activity marks the beginning of Air China’s “Olympic Service Year” program and accelerates passengers’ enthusiasm for the Olympics.
The “Lucky Cabin” activity is part of Air China’s “Olympic Service Year” program, with the main theme of “Greet the Olympics with Happiness; Welcome guests cross the world with a smile”. The main theme is divided into five sub-themes called “Lucky Olympics”, “Green Olympics”, “Smile Olympics”, “Loving Olympics” and “Healthy Olympics”. While fulfilling the obligation of serving and supporting the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Air China takes the games as a valuable opportunity to enhance service quality. Special efforts will be devoted to the Olympic English program, improving service to disabled people (i.e. sign language training), presenting new broadcast announcements, upgrading on-board entertainment systems, etc. All kinds of activities will be held within the company to promote the employees’ enthusiasm for joining and serving the Olympics. With enhanced service and well-trained employees, the company will build a stronger brand.
“Lucky Cabin” activity closely follows the theme of the “Smiles in Beijing” campaign held by the municipal government. The “Lucky Cabin” activity is aimed at creating an atmosphere of participation and contribution to the Olympics in the airplane cabin. A unique on-board welcoming video program and broadcasting script were made to highlight the one-year count-down to the Olympics as well as Air China’s Olympic slogan “Carrying the Olympics,Flying Your Dreams”. The captain greeted passengers in the cabin, which was decorated with 5 Mascots and other Olympic novelties. The cabin was divided into five areas and the passengers in each area wore “Smile Wristlets” in the colors of blue, black, red, yellow and green. Children also got “Mascot Wristlets” as surprise gift. When the Olympic cake was cut, the cabin was had a joyful atmosphere.
During the flight, the flight attendants organized a bilingual “Olympic knowledge contest”, which received a passionate response from passengers. Among riddles of mirth, those who correctly answered questions like “What is the origin of Olympic Games?”, “Where is the headquarters of Olympic Games located?”, “What is Beijing’s Olympic slogan?” and “What is the name of Beijing’s main Olympic Stadium?” received fine Air China aircraft model as gifts. Olympic video programs were showed at the same time to enhance memory of the knowledge. Through the contest, everyone felt like they heard the steps of the Olympics approaching. Finally passengers filled out the “Beijing Olympic Volunteer Questionnaire” made by the municipal government to provide for suggestions for the Olympic Games.
Madam. Yang Lihua, vice president of Air China, and Madam. Liang Wuhua, general manager of the cabin service department, together with members of the “Golden Phoenix Crew” went to the terminal to offer good wishes.
